Structural Remediation Plans (Sinkholes)

SDII Global structural engineers develop remediation plans for buildings affected by sinkhole activity. These remediation plans involve the specification of subsurface grout injection and/or the installation of steel pin piles. Subsurface grout injection will densify the shallow soils beneath a structure and cap the limestone to minimize future raveling. Steel pin piles lift and re-level the structure and span any deleterious soils that may exist at the site.

All remediation plans are in compliance with the Florida Building Code - latest edition, and endorsed by an SDII licensed Structural Engineer. The SDII goal for structural remediation is to provide cost effective solutions and restore the structure to its prior condition. SDII engineers focus on rapid completion of the project while remaining available to the client and the homeowner to answer technical questions regarding our recommendations.

SDII recommends that a professional be used to monitor the remediation activity under the supervision of the structural engineer. This allows the engineer to certify that the remedial activities were completed in accordance with the design and specification and that any damage to the Site that occurred during remediation is corrected. The engineer's certified completion of the project releases the contractor and notifies the client that the project is completed.
