SDII's First Annual Sunshine Claims Conference a Success
At the beginning of June, SDII and Rytech hosted our first annual Sunshine Claims Conference in Ponte Vedra Beach. This high-level conference offered networking opportunities and timely information about the industry; held right after the 2011 Florida legislative session ended, it focused on the new revisions to the Florida insurance statutes. Insurance industry veterans Scott Johnson and Werner Kruck teamed up with Florida’s former Communications Director Bob Lotane to host a panel discussion on the 2011 legislative session. The panel, introduced by Bruce Douglas and mediated by Lisa Miller, gave insight into the legislative changes’ impact on the insurance industry, as well as how the industry can help shape future legislation. Additionally, David Salmon of Groelle & Salmon led a thought-provoking discussion on the legal interpretation of the Florida statutes and how claims handling may be reshaped to meet the new standards. Dr. Sam Upchurch of SDII and William “Bubba” Ryan of Rytech rounded out the conference with industry-specific presentations on sinkhole repairs and advanced drying, respectively.
