Examples of SDII’s expertise are illustrated by the significant contributions by SDII experts to Florida Geological Survey, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and Suwanee River Management District publications.

Florida Geological Survey Special Publication No. 52, Florida Spring Classification System & Spring Glossary, referenced SDII’s Glossary of Geological Terms for every definition associated with depicting all types of sinkholes.

SDII’s sinkhole investigation protocol became the first draft of the suggested protocols for professionals to consider when investigating sinkholes as described in the
Florida Geologic Survey Publication No. 57, Geological and Geotechnical Investigation Procedures for Evaluation of the causes of subsidence damage in Florida.

The Suwanee River Management District reports underscore the importance of karst to water quality in the Floridan Aquifer. Their findings on ground water flow and possible contamination are key to protecting Florida's springs.

The Delineation of Spring-Water Source Areas in the Ichetucknee Springshed, prepared for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, investigates concerns about chemical contamination of the Ichetucknee springshed, and delineates source areas for spring water in the springshed. It also advises on monitoring and future best practices in the area.
